Brassica oleracea. An old standard broccoli that produces many side shoots over a long period. Initial heads are bluish-green and 3-5″ across.

Companion plants include dill, chamomile, sage, peppermint, beets, and onions.

Description

CULTURE: Plant seeds in flats 4-7 weeks early, or after soil reaches 45° F. Prefers soil high in nitrogen an phosphorus. To reach full size, space varieties at least 18″ apart.

WATER: Frequently and consistently throughout growing season.

INSECTS & DISEASES: Control cabbage worms with Bacillus thuringiensis and aphids with pyrethrum.

SUGGESTED Individual Portion: 1 teaspoon
