The Southwest’s true native bean. Among the most heat and drought-tolerant desert crops. Matures quickly. Tepary beans are much higher in fiber and protein that other beans. Commercially cultivated by the Gila River Indian Community.
CULTURE: Plant seeds after last frost when soil reaches 60° F.
SOIL: Tepary beans prosper in drier, well-drained soil with warm temperatures and full sun.
WATER: Avoid top-watering if possible.
